There’s a lot of noise right now in hiring.
AI-generated resumes.
AI-written job descriptions.
AI tools screening candidates.
And according to Carla Corley from WD Beacon and Corner Office Consultants, it’s creating frustration on both sides.
Recruiters are seeing resumes that look identical. Candidates are trying to “game” ATS systems. Companies are overwhelmed with volume.
The result? Distrust.
But here’s the opportunity: authenticity is now a differentiator.
Certifications Aren’t Enough Anymore
Most Workday professionals have certifications. That used to separate candidates. Today, it doesn’t.
Certification proves you passed a test.
It doesn’t prove how you solve problems.
What actually differentiates you?
- Specific results you’ve delivered
- Complex problems you’ve navigated
- Industry or lifecycle experience
- Adjacent product knowledge
If you’re a Benefits expert, don’t just say that.
Tell me how you consolidated 100 plans into 10.
Tell me how you supported an acquisition.
Tell me how you improved enrollment accuracy.
That’s what stands out.
No One Knows All of Workday
And that’s okay.
Workday has expanded dramatically. Adaptive Planning, Strategic Sourcing, Peakon, Help, and more. Many professionals have deep knowledge in one area and exposure to others.
Even saying, “I don’t know that module, but I know someone who does,” builds trust.
And trust is what companies are really looking for.
Visibility Matters
Regional user groups.
Knowledge sharing.
Authentic LinkedIn posts.
These aren’t vanity plays. They build credibility.
In a crowded market, being real is your edge.
